No DescriptionAfter its success in 2010, Bristol CND is re-running its ‘Chance of a Lifetime’ short film competition for young people again this year, and it is set to become an annual event.

As in last year’s competition, entrants must be aged 12-25 years on the closing date (31/10/2011). The competition offers the opportunity to produce a film answering the question “what does nuclear disarmament mean to you?”, with £1000 worth of prizes to be won for the most creative and original.

Whether you are an experienced filmmaker or not, the competition is an excellent opportunity. Expert feedback from media professionals is available to all entrants, the winning entries will be judged by David Sproxton of Aardman, and the winners invited to a gala awards show at the Watershed media centre, Bristol in November 2011, where David Sproxton will present the prizes and the winning films will be shown.

Last year’s winning entries can be seen in the ‘Gallery’ on the competition website at www.thechanceofalifetime.org.

Competition entries can be live action or animation, and run from 30 seconds to 2 minutes but all must include a title, credits and the official CND symbol at some point. This symbol can be found on the competition website - www.thechanceofalifetime.org

“We expect the creativity and perspective of youth will help the rest of us reconnect with the reality of living with nuclear weapons and the need to get rid of them,” said Bristol CND Chair, Bill Braddick: “We want young people to think and talk about the issues, and to re-engage with the political debate.”

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) is one of Europe's largest single-issue peace campaigns, with over 35,000 members in the UK. CND campaigns for the abolition of all nuclear weapons everywhere. www.cnduk.org
