The Tree of Life - Special Screening
There is to be a special screening of this Palme d'Or winning film from Terrence Malick at The Watershed this Sunday 24th July at 2.30pm.
Nigel Ashcroft, the Bristol-based Natural History Producer responsible for the outstanding 20-minute universe sequence that appears in The Tree of Life, will be present for an introduction and a Q&A after the film. Paul Appleby, Chair of Bristol Media, will host the event.
With this Palme d'Or winner Terrence Malick has managed to create both an intimate drama with a 1950s family at its core and, incredibly, an epic examination of the evolution of the universe itself. It goes without saying, therefore, that Tree of Life is nothing if not hugely ambitious: this is audacious, brave filmmaking on a visionary scale. Brad Pitt and Sean Penn head up the fine cast in an odyssey through time featuring dinosaurs, the big bang, meteors and galaxies, tackling some of life's hardest, most profound questions. Mad and magnificent, frustrating and fascinating, baffling and bizarre, it is bound to polarise audiences as it has the critics. Tree of Life is a breathtaking spectacle of a film that demands to be experienced: we invite you to make up your own mind. The Tree of Life opens from Fri 22 July at The Watershed for at least two weeks.
Fee: £4.60 full / £3.60 concessions.
