This summer, local production company ShootMe are running Film Academies for young people in the South West.
 
Supported by the Watershed, the Film Academy workshops will enable participants of ages 11 - 17 to get hands-on experience of making the film themselves.

This hands-on two-day workshop gives young people the chance to try their hand at: 
CREATING - find out how to turn ideas into movies 
ACTING - the first steps to stardom!
DIRECTING - boss our professional crew around and call the shots 
SPECIAL FX - distort reality using green screen and lighting 
EDITING - with industry-standard software  

There will be two Film Academies running this summer, on the 17th-18th August and 24th-25th August, at the creative hub that is the Watershed on the Harbourside in Bristol. 
 
Matt Thurling, the BAFTA winning MD of ShootMe, has been running film making workshops in South West schools for the past three years.
 
Culminating in a red carpet premiere for family and friends to attend, the Film Academy will showcase the ideas and creative skills of budding young film makers. The students will also get a DVD memento to take home with them.
