Community Media Survey - Getting The Real Stories Out
As part of our role in the Bristol-BBC Anchor, Bristol Media is actively involved in developing the workstream on Community Media. With the government's plans for HyperLocal news, a rich and varied blogging culture in the city, and beacons like BCFM and Ujima, we can play a key role in developing the profile of local journalism.
The work is co-ordinated by UWE, and the first focus is on establishing the best way to get good, credible journalistic standards. To this end UWE is conducting a simple survey that will help identify the training needs of local news and what kind of journalistic courses members of the public might find useful.
If you have a news-based blog, know people that have, or have a professional journalist's view on the standards needed for effective community journalism, do get involved.
The survey can be anonymous, although it is a chance for you to register an interest should any courses come forward in the future.
