Bridging the Digital and Physical Worlds Workshop - Wednesday 2 February at Watershed, Bristol

This workshop forms a central part of a beacon project being undertaken by The Creative Industries Knowledge Transfer Network (CI KTN). The project is being run by Alloy.

The study, called Bridging the Digital & Physical Worlds is now in its second stage, and a link to the report from the first stage can be found here. The aim of this project is to define how new digital design, manufacture and distribution tools can be matured and enhanced to provide a competitive edge to the UK’s creative industries and the markets they serve.

The workshops will explore 3 scenarios roughly 5 years in the future where items that are currently available on the high street will be fully customisable and manufactured either at the point of sale or at a local /community facility. The aim of the workshop is to explore these scenarios and what new systems, skills and offers will need to be created to enable this suggested future. More importantly we will also be exploring how the scenarios will impact upon the creative industries – what value does the designer / architect have in a world where customers are also creators, where the barriers to market have been erased and where the skills needed in digital creation are available to all, for free ?

Please register you attendance with Anita at CI KTN anita@creativeindustriesktn.org and we look forward to welcoming you to an exciting and informative session.
