On 1st September, Mike Bennett, Chief Executive of Bristol Media, will take up the role of Place Making Director for Bristol.

This fantastic appointment recognises Mike and Bristol Media’s role over the last 4 years in promoting the city, and the increasing importance of Creative Industries in the area. Mike will be working alongside business, the City Council and Bristol Partnership to develop initiatives, projects and events that will allow Bristol to stand out and clearly distinguish itself from other major European cities.

Paul Appleby, Chair of Bristol Media stated:

“We think it’s great news and are really excited by the opportunities it will create. Bristol is a fantastic city and Mike’s new role will provide great synergies with Bristol Media for the benefit of our members and the wider sector.”

It will be very much business as usual with Mike staying on as one of the Directors working with the rest of the Board on ideas and strategies. Paul Appleby also continues in his role of Chair, supported by Caroline Marshall and her team delivering projects and events. We are also strengthening the Board with the appointment of Chris Thurling, Founder and Managing Director of 3Sixty, a leading full service digital marketing agency, which is based in the city.

Bristol Media Group, now in its 6th year, continues to go from strength to strength with over 550 subscribing members and a newsletter with a circulation of 4000 and growing! On September 15-16 we will be hosting VISION, the biggest ever creative industries conference in the South West and one of the largest in the UK, helping to reinforce Bristol’s position as a capital for creativity.

Paul continues:

“I am sure you would all like to join the Board of Bristol Media in wishing Mike all the best in his new role, and thanking him for the energy, ideas and passion that he’s put into Bristol Media. We also welcome his continued involvement with the organisation.”
