Green Poems

Tiger Tiger burning bright, Gone from forests of the night. Who will listen to your plight? Tiger Tiger out of sight?

The first major collection of green poetry ‘Green Poems for a Blue Planet’ is now available as a beautifully illustrated book. Written by Bristol Media member and composer Martin Kiszko with illustrations by Nick Park, the poems are whimsical, thought-provoking and meant seriously despite their light-hearted tone. The 56 poems highlight the threat humankind poses to the future of the planet.

Martin Kiszko is a composer and screen writer. He has composed over 200 scores for film and television and released eight albums with major European orchestras. His screenplays include the children’s fantasy Junkworld which is being developed in Hollywood as a feature film.

Martin says ‘I hope these poems provoke a thought, raise a smile, start a conversation, spark an idea, spur us into action, or simply turn on a few ‘green lights’.

Nick Park is a four-times Academy Award winning director, animator and writer. He is best known as the creator of Wallace and Gromit.

The collection is expected (through test readings in Los Angeles, London and Bristol) to have universal appeal but is most likely to end up in the hands of 8-13 year olds in schools or read by parents to children in their homes.

One of the world’s longest running children’s comics THE BEANO will also be publishing one of the poems. Martin will also reading from the collection on BBC Radio 4’s programme SAVING SPECIES tonight June 15th and Thursday 17th June. Performances accompanied by projected visuals of Nick Park’s drawings are also available.
