10th World Intellectual Property Day

On Monday 26th April 2010, the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) celebrates the 10th World Intellectual Property Day.
Intellectual Property refers to the ideas and knowledge built up within a business, for example through its brands, written work, designs, software and products. There are many different ways in which IP can be protected, including patents, copyright and trade marks.
“Many businesses don’t even realise they have intellectual property – let alone the value of it,” explains Jessica Bent, head of Withy King’s Technology and Media team. “Businesses which identify and protect their Intellectual Property put themselves in a very strong position because they suddenly have a valuable commodity which can be transferred, licensed, mortgaged or even sold."
This is why the Technology & Media team at Withy King will be marking World Intellectual Property Day on Monday, 26 April by offering businesses a free Intellectual Property health check. Confidential, one-to-one sessions will be held at the firm’s offices in Bath and Swindon, throughout the day.
