Prize winning Brief Encounters

Pixillion Digital’s Creative Director Remco Merbis presented the Encounters Online Audience Award winning film ‘Funland’ to graphic design students Dan Cottrell and Jed Cullen, at the Short Film Festival’s Awards Ceremony held at the Watershed in Bristol.
It’s the third time Bristol digital creative agency Pixillion have sponsored the Encounters International Film Festival. Remco says the reason they sponsor the festival is because, “we love film. Digital film making and animation is at the heart of what we do at Pixillion, and it’s great to be part of a festival that celebrates our kind of creativity.”
The Encounters Online Audience Awards is powered by Babelgum Channels. During the festival the site had over 19,000 views, 1216 votes divided over live action and animation.
Remco goes on to say, “Encounters always throws up new talent, new ideas, different ways of telling stories. That’s the way we work at Pixillion too. Our agency thrives on open collaboration and we love working with the best designers, best animators and the best writers to create digital landscapes that put our client’s brands centre stage.”
Pixillion also hosted the Encounters Happy Hour where they showcased their latest digital innovation called ‘Mosillion’. The idea is to take tweets using the hash tag “#mosillion” and search for film-related images on Flickr which are then posted to the site. Visitors to the Happy Hour enjoyed influencing the interactive backdrop from their mobile phones or laptops, watching their favourite film images flash up on the screen.
Pixillion looks forward to supporting Encounters next year and is excited by what imaginative digital films will be entered for 2011’s awards.
