We're looking forward to a busy and exciting 2011

2010 was a busy, exciting and interesting year for Bristol Media. Membership went from strength to strength and we now have well over 600 members, making us the biggest creative network in the South West. We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last year and those who have renewed their membership for the coming year. You've attended workshops, events, training and Vision; you've played Football, watched short films and networked at many Media Tuesday's at The Square Bar, Jacks Brasserie, Hotel du Vin, and The Big Chill, ensuring that these networking events are still the best in town.
We've got some big-ish plans for 2011:
- Our training courses will continue with the next one Winning New Business taking place on 12th January. We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from the first course, Building a Marketing Strategy, and as it was over-subscribed we will be running this one again in March.
- We will be launching our new Freelance Database early in January - do sign up now if you haven't already. This is very exciting - a one stop shop for freelancers and businesses. Hundreds are already signed up to it - don't miss out! Email lynda@bristolmedia.co.uk for more information. For the time being permanent jobs will continue to be posted as normal and don't forget for £50 a week, you can have your job 'featured' on our homepage and guaranteed in the Jobs Bulletin which goes out every Monday to thousands of subscribers.
- Our third edition of the South West Top 100 will go into production in February - keep an eye on the website for the launch of the Top 100 Survey
- The Bristol to Biarritz or bust Rally will take place in May - we've already had interest from seven Agencies. If you're interested to find out more email caroline@bristolmedia.uk . The first planning meeting will be on 18th January at 1230 at McCann Erickson.
- The Five a Side Football Tournament will take place again in July - dates to be confirmed but might be worth planning some training sessions once the turkey and mince pies are finished.
- Vision will happen in October 2011 - we are in the process of confirming venue dates and will be updating the Vision website in January - watch our for some highlights of Vision 2010 coming your way. And if you've got any thoughts for speakers you think would be good for this year's conference, do let us know Caroline@bristolmedia.co.uk
- We've held meetings about re-vamping our website which we know is in need of updating. We might not get this finished until later in the year so in the meantime, do please keep feeding your stories through to Caroline@bristolmedia.co.uk and we'll post when we can.
- We will also be joined by two new Board Members in the New Year representing the Design and TV sectors and they will each be announcing a programme of activity for their sectors once they've got their feet under the Board Room table.
I hope you'll be looking forward to some of this activity and there'll be lots more to come. In the meantime from all of use at Bristol Media we hope you have a successful and prosperous 2011.
