Positive New MediaPositive were first approached by the Wiltshire-based charity in September after seeing the work they had done over the last few years for Bath-based African charity, Send a Cow.

Hope & Homes work with children, their families and communities across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa to ensure childrengrow up in an environment where they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. They were looking for an agency to redevelop their digital presence and connect them with their audiences online.

Positive currently work for a rich mix of brands, with clients from a range of sectors. They include: Oxford University, The Prostate Cancer Charity and The Tour of Britain. Positive Creative Director Kate Tanner says, “Clients choose us because we really understand digital. We create exciting, compelling digital comms and steer them through the digital environment at the same time. They use us as strategic partners because we’re open, friendly and we demystify digital for them. Plus we’re honest about the best way to maximise their budget to achieve both impact and return online.”

After a credentials pitch is was clear that Positive really understood the challenges that charities face online and how to address them. On board as strategic partners, the initial project will be acomplete overhaul of the site, exploring how digital can help reach their target audiences, represent their brand accurately and inspire action from their supporters.

“Charities face many of the same issues as profit-making businesses – they have very tight budgets and a strong obligation to their stakeholders. But they also need to show their supporters that they are being savvy with their money and not wasting funds that could be directed at their cause. The charity sector is highly competitive, with millions of charities competing for donations and involvement (regardless of whether their values or missions are aligned), which means the competitive set for a charity is vast and it is crucial that a charity stands out from the crowd if they are going to make a return online.”
