Six Characters in Search of an Author
Jack Shepherd and Catherine McCormack will lead the cast in Rupert Goold’s critically acclaimed West End production of Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello, in a limited national tour this Autumn.
Six strangers arrive unannounced during the editing of a documentary film. Abandoned fictional characters in search of an author and with an appalling narrative, the documentary maker agrees to film their story in this radical new version.
Six Characters is a dark parable for a media-obsessed age and an exhilarating exploration of how we define ourselves, and what we call ‘reality’, in the 21st Century.
A bold re-imagining of a post-modern masterpiece, Six Characters blurs the border between fiction and reality, between the stage and the world outside. First staged in 1921, Pirandello’s classic has been updated and recontextualised for a modern audience in this new adaptation by Rupert Goold and Ben Power.
