After record breaking ratings, Bristol-based indie Icon Films has been commissioned by US cable channel Animal Planet to make a second run of its fishing adventure series, River Monsters.

The show features extreme angler and biologist Jeremy Wade as he travels the world in search of freshwater fish that are alleged to be man killers.

The first season managed to pick up an average audience of more than a million households across its seven episodes, making it the best-performing series in the network’s history.

The second series, due to air in spring 2010, will explore more killer fish in fresh water across the globe.
