Nameless launch Sustrans’ new Bike Belles website
The wheels are in motion for the launch of Sustrans new Bike Belles website, part of the charity’s nationwide push to get more women in the UK cycling. Set to launch on the 8th March in conjunction with International Women’s Day, the Bike Belles website
(www.bikebelles.org.uk) is an online resource for women that promotes cycling as a stylish healthy and trendy means of transport.
According to Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, a mere 11% of women regularly travel by bike, despite nearly half the female population in the UK owning a bicycle. However, things are about to change with the launch of the website and a range of activities that focus on getting more women to embrace pedal power.
Designed and developed by digital agency Nameless, the Bike Belles website, with its modern and stylish design, inspirational photography and humourous writing, clearly delivers the message that women can fit cycling in with their lifestyle without needing to touch a thread of lycra.
Along with safety tips, practical hints and fashion ideas, the Bike Belles website also includes mini-polls, events listings, a petition and a panel of ‘bike belles’ sharing their personal experiences of cycling. With the help of the website, Sustrans aims to change the image of cyclists as lycra-clad beings in fluorescent jackets and inspire women throughout the UK to achieve true cycle chic, whether popping to the grocers or cycling to work. Watch out for the influx of Bike Belles coming to a street near you.
