EIKEN, the audiovisual cluster in the Basque Country, organise an International Audiovisual

Seminar on animation for presentations and encounters between Basque companies and

their counterparts from different countries (amongst them UK companies) in order to seek

business opportunities, including joint productions.

Animabasque is a one-day Animation Seminar held during the Animabasauri Festival

www.animabasauri.com which runs from 20 to 29 March. The Seminar (in its II edition) will be held 26 March at the prestigious Euskalduna Congress Hall in Bilbao. The purpose of the event is to bring together all the players involved in animation, i.e. producers, investors, sponsors, etc. Each year there is an invited country. This year it is Germany’s turn.

The Seminar format starts with morning presentations and 1-2-1 meetings in the afternoon. The morning presentations, usually 10, are to do with projects that can be at any phase of development from the very beginning to a finished animation. Presentations last about 20 minutes for each producer. The projects can be either serials or films as long as they are in animation form. In the

afternoon, the Seminar organisers arrange 1-2-1 meetings looking for business opportunities in the form of joint productions, investor support, technology and idea exchanges, purchasing, etc.

Television channels are also attendees, e.g. last year BBC Children, Spanish Television (TVE) and Basque Television (EITB). This year the Animation Schools from Bournemouth have announced their participation.

UKTI Bilbao plan to bring 5 to 6 UK animation companies and have 2 UK projects presented during the morning session. The UK companies can be producers, distributors, investors, etc.
