DV Talent

DV Talent’s pioneering Series Producer training scheme is back. Funded by Skillset, this unique 15-day course is aimed at cultivating the next generation of senior production talent.

Taught by some of the most influential programme-makers and execs of recent years – including Robert Thirkell, Ben Gale and Debbie Christie – it is designed to give experienced producers the key creative, editorial and managerial skills needed to series produce with confidence. Key course content includes:

- Storytelling and shaping the series

- Managing people and effective leadership

- Handling talent and picking the right team

- Money matters

- Audiences, scheduling and diversity

- Compliance and ethics

- Producing 360 degree commissions

- Exclusive access to key commissioners and channel controllers, including Richard Woolfe, Jo Clinton-Davis, Andrew O’Connell, Harry Lansdown

- Networking opportunities including attendance at the Edinburgh International TV Festival

The course is heavily subsidised by the Skillset TV Freelance Fund and consists of a week’s intensive training followed by five weekend courses. Last year’s inaugural scheme has already enabled many of the participants to step up to Series Producer. Roger Bolton of Flame TV, who mentored one of the trainees, described the course as ‘invaluable.’

DV Talent and Skillset are particularly keen to attract applicants from the nations and regions as we believe this course offers a good opportunity to help build on and foster a diverse broadcasting industry.
