Understanding Branding
![]()
Every business has a brand. If you believe the hype, every individual has a brand too, so clearly some brands are better than others!
This workshop on 10th February 2010, presented by our Legal Partner Thring Townsend Lee and Pemberton, will explore the value a good brand can add to your business and how the law can help you exploit it and defend it. We’ll cover the technicalities of protecting and managing a brand and we’ll consider the various legal alternatives on offer, together with the risks and rewards involved.
This will be an interactive session covering:
- What your brand can do for you and how the law can help
- What someone else’s brand can do for you and how to make sure it’s legally watertight
- How to pick a good brand – what the law likes and what it doesn’t
- Protecting and enforcing your brand – from “cease and desist” to court action
- Promoting and exploiting your brand – licences and assignment
By the end of this workshop, you should have a good understanding of how law and brands interact and how this can benefit your business. You will also be familiar with the legal processes involved in managing a brand, and feel confident that you know whether you can do it yourself or when you need to call a lawyer.
You should attend if you are a marketing director, account director, brand manager, licensing executive or anyone else responsible for your business’ brand.
The event on 10th February will take place at the new Thring Townsend office, The Paragon, Counterslip, Bristol BS1 6BX from 4pm-6pm including refreshments. The cost is £10.00 for members and £20.00 for non-members. You can book quickly and easily using Paypal below.
