Hospital patient launches crowdsourcing website for King’s College

Delib founder Chris Quigley has launched a crowdsourcing based website from his ward to provide a forum for patients and employees to suggests ways in which the NHS hospital’s service can be improved.
Despite being bed bound with severe back pain since last week and dependent on a team of nurses, Chris founder of e-democracy company, Delib, which specialises in citizen empowerment, became inspired by the experience and decided he could contribute something back in lieu of the care he is receiving.
Chris hit upon the idea of harnessing the power of Crowdsourcing, which takes the tasks normally performed by an employee or company and outsources them to a group of people or community in the form of an open call. Within a day of putting the plan into action from his ward, Chris’s company had designed and built a website for King’s College based on a software app used by Delib’s clients.
The website – called Help Us Improve King’s – enables patients to share ideas and suggestions, which are then collated and organised based on a rating and commenting system. In short; the community votes, the community decides.
At present, Chris is still a patient at King’s College, but his work is not yet done. Having launched the website, he has now turned his attentions to encouraging his fellow patients to visit the site and become involved!
Chris said: “Lying in bed in pain inspired me to ask myself ‘could I be of any use to the hospital lying here?’ The hospital staff have been fantastic but I felt I could improve how the hospital is run. “The crowdsouricng site is designed for patients to share their ideas on how they can improve the service at King’s College. If you’re a patient or employee give your ideas and let’s improve the service!”
