Deco Building

Paintworks’ shiny new Deco Building on Bristol’s Bath Road launches on September 11 with an open-house viewing evening in the ‘painthouse’ show apartment and the fantastic new studio spaces.

The latest of Paintworks’ mixed-use schemes, the converted 1930s office block features nine offices/studios and seven apartments, providing new opportunities to live and work in Bristol’s vibrant creative quarter.

Most of the office/studio spaces are in the original Wyvern Building, the paintworks’ admin block. They have Crittall-style windows and wood floors (some recycled gymnasium floors), and are designed [obviously] for the creative industries. The units vary in size from 780 sq ft to 1075 sq ft and are offered to let at £16.50 per square ft. The new-build Rotunda at the entrance – or what will be the entrance – offers 3300 sq ft on two floors. Four units are already reserved so make sure you’re quick off the mark if you’d like a tour.

In keeping with the style of the building and the standard of finish, the scheme’s seven apartments offer light, generous open-plan living spaces, with rooftop decks or terraces and great urban views across Paintworks’ rooftops to the River Avon. Paula Rosa kitchens, West One bathrooms and light wood floors are part of the spec, and all have higher-than-average ceilings and big windows – but no two apartments are exactly the same, and early buyers will have an opportunity to customize spaces.

Deco White Spaces To illustrate the potential, the one-bedroom show home is furnished, mainly with pieces sourced from creative companies based at or affiliated to Paintworks: there are drawings by artist Carol Peace; a funky leather sofa and chair made out of recycled car seats by model makers, Scary Cat Studio; paintings by Jimmy Galvin; and textiles by Paul Christian Fabrics. Some of the decorative furniture was custom-made by local artist and designer Paul Bradburn; others were supplied by Bodie and Fou (interiors specialists based at Paintworks).

For those who miss the show-home opening, there will be another opportunity to see inside the Deco Building – and other spaces at Paintworks – at the Bristol Doors Open Day on Saturday 13 September (10am-4pm).

The Deco Building open-house event is at 5pm – 9pm on Thursday September 11. For information / viewings re apartments contact Ocean on 0117 366 0070 and for office and studio space contact Alder King on 317 1000.
