E3 to develop major online search tool for entire V&A Collection
The V&A Museum have appointed digital agency E3 to design their ‘V&A Collections’ site following a competitive three-way pitch.
The new web site will allow users to easily search the entire V&A collection of over 27,000 works and 43,000 images ranging from Turner and Constable Masterpieces, iconic examples of haute couture to ‘modern classic’ furniture pieces.
Mark Hook, Web Manager at V&A said:
“It’s a hugely exciting and challenging project for us. We need to ensure the interface is user friendly and caters for a whole host of different audiences and groups from novices such as school children to specialist academics.
He continued:
“E3 demonstrated they’ve worked on similar IA and user centred design projects so their experience stood head and shoulders above the rest of the agencies we’d invited to pitch for the project.”
E3 MD, Stuart Avery stated:
“We’ll follow an iterative design process where we’ll involve users and constantly ‘feedback’ results throughout each design phase. We even plan to set up test labs in the museum itself so we can include the museum’s visitors in the user testing to ensure its bang on brief”.
He continued:
“We’ve worked on several really creative projects with the V&A across a variety of exhibitions over the last 2 years, so we’re delighted to be in a position where we can expand our work and the relationship to include this large scale user experience brief too.”
