Cineformation are very pleased to announce that they are hosting a Directing Masterclass with Mike Leigh, the acclaimed British filmmaker whose directing credits include award-winning films such as Vera Drake, Secrets and Lies, and of course, Abigail’s Party.

The Masterclass will take place on Wednesday 9 April at 1800 at Watershed in conjunction with the release of Mike’s new film, Happy-Go-Lucky, which stars Sally Hawkins and has had recent success at the Berlin Film Festival.

Hosted by Guardian Film Critic and broadcaster Nigel Floyd, the Q&A will be an exclusive opportunity for local directors and new filmmaking talent to learn more about Mike’s renowned directing style and apply some of his hints and tips to their own film projects.

Beth Jones, Creative Producer of Cineformation said ‘We’re really excited that Mike is participating in such an exclusive event. It really is a fantastic opportunity for local filmmakers and the cream of the region’s new talent to put their questions to one of the country’s best directors.’

Unfortunately tickets to the Masterclass are now sold out but if you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email info@cineformation.com and you will be informed if any tickets become available.

There will also be an public preview screening of Happy-Go-Lucky and a short Q&A with Mike after the Cineformation Masterclass at 1930 in Watershed’s Cinema 1.
