A series of five guides have been published by UKTI and the UK Intellectual Property Office to help British companies in major markets around the world where they are likely to face problems in obtaining, protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights.

A company’s intellectual property portfolio may be its most valuable asset. The guides examine the basic principles of intellectual property and rights, discuss the European and global dimensions; before dealing with specific country environments and practices.

The guides are pitched mainly at the managers of smaller businesses, who do not have an in-house legal team. They are an introduction, and should not replace expert advice.

Guides will be available for each of the following countries:

· Brazil

· China

· India

· Korea

· Vietnam

Online versions of the guide are available on the Portal – https://www.uktradeinvest.gov.uk/ukti/iprguides
