2008 has started with a bang, with a number of changes already in the media land of Bristol!
Firstly, hot off the press is the surprise resignation of the long-standing Rob Buckland, Western Daily Press Business Editor. This was announced following his swan song, which was the launch of the Yearly Business Guide. Rob, as ever, is playing his cards close to his chest at the moment as to where he will end up. Paul Breydon, his current second in command, will probably end up with the top job.
Montage Communications has caused a stir in the PR world by appointing Kevin Coughlan, editor of the award-winning LINK South West magazine and formerly of Trimedia Harrision Cowley (the South West’s largest PR agency).
Finally, it is sad to see the Venue magazine move to Temple Way in the Bristol Evening Post building. As the Daily Mail Group, Northcliffe, owns this titile and Folio, it is hardly surprising, however, I think that the creative edge and the atmosphere in the Hobgoblin on Gloucester Road will never be the same again. Here’s to the Printers Press near Gardner Haskins being the Venue “Pub of the Year” then!?
