Epoch Design, the Bristol based retail packaging and brand specialist has announced its merger with Loewy, the UK’s fast-growing branding communication group.

Epoch Managing Director, Anthony Lucas, says: “It’s a very exciting development for Epoch as this deal give us the opportunity to become part of one of the largest and fastest growing design-focused businesses in Europe. It will bring added-value for Epoch’s clients by offering a broader range of services and greater expertise, and conversely will bring our expertise to a wider audience by providing additional value to Loewy as a group. It will allow Epoch’s team to grow and will help shape the future of our fresh and dynamic design business group.”

“Epoch will, however, remain as Epoch; based in Bristol, run by the same management team on a day-to-day basis and dedicated to delivering the highest quality work for our clients. There will be no change to our working practices, personnel, day-to-day contacts or any aspect of our business, other than in areas that will help us to improve our business effectiveness and service, for our clients and suppliers.”

The acquisition marks the latest step in Loewy’s strategic plan to build its food and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) strengths. It also brings the total numbers employed by the company to 350 and boosts its overall annual turnover to around £47 million.

Loewy CEO Charlie Hoult says: “The Epoch team has a fantastic reputation with clients – all of whom sang the agency’s praises in the research we carried out before partnering with them. Their innovation, business experience and design talent made them a stand-out target for us as we continue our plan to build a multi-specialist family of world renown.

Other recent Loewy acquisitions include Williams Murray Hamm, famous for revitalising famous household products such Jaffa Cakes and Hovis. Hoult says: "Epoch connects with this expertise by offering best-in-class point of sale, retail-ready and secondary packaging solutions.”
