More than 20 teams have signed up to take part in the inaugural Bristol Media five-a-side soccer tournament. It will be at Clifton College’s Sports Ground at Abbots Leigh on 22 July but there’s still room for a few more teams, but you’ll have to be quick!

Among those who have signed up so far for a crack at the winner’s cup are teams from Aardman Animations, ARKive, BBC Docs and Features, E3, Sift, Rubberductions, Wildfire Comms, Smith and Williamson Solomon Hare and Withy King. If you’re a freelancer or a one-man-band and want to be part of a team – drop us a line and we’ll get you sorted.

Entries will be welcome up until 22 June, though, at a cost of £50 per squad (that is, up to seven players and a non-playing manager) and comes with a guarantee that each team will get at least three matches plus beer vouchers to exchange at the accompanying bar & barbecue.

For more details – or to be put in touch with solo operators or freelancers who are want to form a Bertie Bassett Seven (made up of ‘all sorts’) – please contact pam@bristolmedia.co.uk, putting FOOTIE in the subject line.

Supporter tickets will also be available nearer to the time. Watch this space. Tournament proceeds will be used to support future Bristol Media activities
