Mobile Pie Game Wins 4Talent Award
Congratulation to Bristol’s very own Mobile Pie who won the Channel 4 “4Talent Mobile Game Developer” Award last week. At the Golden Joystick Awards, the team pitched their game concept to a panel of industry experts from Channel 4, EA Mobile and O2 UK, seeing off the competition from nine other finalists from around Europe.
The game “Let it Grow” allows players to care for and share their very own flower. Using the camera of their phone, colours from the real world must be captured to nurture and evolve the plant. The player can then share their creation with their friends via their Facebook profile page.
Mobile Pie is a Bristol based development studio that creates games and applications for mobiles. It is run by Tom Dowding and Richard Wilson who both graduated in Computer Science from Bristol University in 2004. Tom said: “Being awarded the prize from a panel of such stature was a great achievement, especially as there were so many other good ideas in the competition. It was great to see interest being taken to encourage innovation in mobile content.”
