Film conference brings digital experts to Bristol

South West Screen (SWS) – the development agency for film, TV and digital media in the South West of England – is to host a one-day conference on the future of film at Bristol’s Watershed on Tuesday 11 December.

Titled Film: The Digital Future, the event will feature a pool of experts explaining how best to embrace and exploit ongoing digital developments within film production, distribution, exhibition and marketing. Confirmed speakers include representatives from the UK Film Council, Arts Alliance, Content Republic, City Screen and Hammer.

Caroline Norbury, SWS’s chief executive says:‘Following on from Funding your Feature, the film finance conference we held back in March, Film: The Digital Future promises to be entertaining and immensely informative. Quite simply, there is no better way to get the lowdown on the changing landscape of digital film.’

The conference starts at 9.15am. Topics to be covered include the future for film/TV production now that user-generated content is on the rise; how established methods of film promotion are affected by the increasing number of digital platforms; what the digital revolution means for distribution, piracy, and how exhibitors are responding to digital change. digital platforms open up new distribution channels? the day will also feature journalist Nick Roddick interviewing a prominent digital player and a digital distribution legal masterclass.
